Gabbi's Games

Gabbi loves playing soccer. This is her 3rd year playing and she's really good at it. She practices a lot at home with Duane in the backyard and I even catch her in the house kickin the ball against the door over and over until I finally get after her. She's come a long way from the kindergarten years when they all just run after the ball in a big group, or even kick it into their own goal and score for the other team. And there's always those kids who are just off in their own little world, while the game is going on, twirling in circles or sitting on the field... it's so cute and funny to watch!

Here she is being goalie.

She's gotten a little bit "superstitious" about it and it makes me laugh... She thinks they win more when her team gets to wear the blue shirts, and she has to be chewing a piece of Bubblicious Bubble Gum... it's her "lucky gum". But, they've won some, and lost some.

This is her team this year. They are really cute girls. Some of them have played with her before and some of them have become new friends.

The weather for soccer season is always so wishy-washy. They had 2 games cancelled because of snow and rain, but that time it was raining pretty bad. There were a couple games where it was coming down and we were all bundled up sitting on the side-lines with umbrellas and blankets. Then there are other days that are so nice and even sometimes hot.

Halle is our cheering squad while Duane and I spend most of the game running after Derek who darts onto the field every chance he gets. He thinks it's funny.

Halle said she wants to play soccer next year. She's already playing outside with Duane and Gabbi so she's getting lots of practice.

Gabbi's got one more game on Saturday. Let's hope the blue shirts and the "lucky-gum" come thru and we WIN!!!

Halle-ella

Halle was playing dress up the other day and was pretending to be Cinderella. She was sweeping and scrubbing and "taking my lunch order" (like a little waitress with a notepad). Then she asked if she could clean the toilet. I wasn't gonna argue with that! Hey if someone else wants to clean the toilet for a change... I'm all for it!!!

I guess Derek is the supervisor... makin sure it's done right.

And I guess THIS is me!?

Then Derek decided to join in the fun and dumped a bag of chips on the floor so he could "sweep it up".

Yep - she's definetly my little Cinderella!

The witch has a new broom!

YAY!!! I am so happy! I finally broke down and bought myself a new broom!

I think I've had the same one since we got married! It was lookin pretty scary but it is one of Derek's favorite things. When I brought this new one home, he HAD to try it out right away... and he approves.
